Star (Lifeguard
she's a Star at Sandbears) with Iain
February 2008
We have loved and owned newfoundland dogs for about 15 years. Our first newfie, Woody, a landseer was given to us by some friends who were going to live and work in Italy. Woody was about five years old when he came to live with us and our springer spaniel, Sam. When Sam died at age 17 we knew we wanted another newfie to replace him. Eventually, through the best efforts of Mrs Lindsay May of the Trinity Fair Kennel, we discovered the Fhirabhata kennel and ordered our first puppy, Bodie (Fhirabhata Lord of Tahg). By the time Woody died, aged 15 we had two more newfies, Rufus (Merrybear Masai Warrior) and Annie (Fhirabhata Anaise) and showing had taken over our lives.
Over the years we have added many more and in April of 2007 we had our first litter from Merrybear Dianna Ross and Lifeguard on a Cruise to Sandbears. Zeta (Merrybear Dianna Ross) had only one puppy, our adored Saffi. Saffi qualified for Crufts at Working Breeds of Scotland under Mrs B Schjoth of Denmark, and went this year, together with Lifeguard she's a Star at Sandbears (who is living with us at the moment, kindly loaned by Sue of Sandbears newfoundlands).
